More room for what comes next
Make room for your next plans
A growing family, working from home, or new hobbies can change what you need from your home. Look for space that improves your everyday life.
Think in terms of activities as well as rooms
Note the times when your current home falls short: preparing meals, having guests, studying quietly, or storing bicycles. That list will help you distinguish an everyday need from space you would rarely use.
During your visit, imagine your furniture on the floor plan. Review circulation, storage, ventilation, and privacy between sleeping and shared living areas. A well-designed layout may be more useful than a larger floor area.
Consider the cost of living there, too
Moving may increase maintenance, cleaning, energy, and furnishing costs. Compare those amounts alongside your expected monthly payment and travel to work or school.
Think several years ahead: a flexible room may start as a home office and serve another purpose later. Ask which modifications the home allows and which require technical review or authorization.
- Sketch how you would use each room.
- Check where you will store what you already own.
- Bring measurements of your main furniture when you visit.
- Consider a yard and terrace in light of the maintenance you can manage.
